Third time's a charm....

For some reason, this post has been a difficult one.  The first attempt, our internet connection was uncooperative and uploading pictures was problematic.  The second attempt?  Well that was ALL user error.  I deleted it.  The whole thing… in one keystroke.  So, hopefully, the third time IS a charm.

Barn Light Electric is having a giveaway.  I could use some barn lights!  Barn Lights.  Barn.  Lights.  We have a barn.... it has no lights.

Oops, but not this barn… as you know, if blew down during reconstruction.

But we have this rebuilt barn now… but still, no lights.

No lights, installed that is.  There is a collection of vintage enameled lights ready to go.  For the inside...

Or perhaps the outside...

So the is actually barn pretty set for lighting.  The barn lights I’m looking at would be for here… for the house.

We’re fortunate that some of our lights are original to the house… like this vintage light in the front porch.

Or the original ceiling fixture in the living room... you may notice that I really need to clean the paint off the base!

And we’ve found a few vintage lights too, at antique stores, flea markets, salvage shops, eBay…

A set of these Porcelier sconces were a steal on eBay, for the breakfast room.

But.  And it’s a big but.  We still have a few beauties that may be vintage, may be old, but not 1920’s house cool old.  More like 50’s or 60’s “what were you thinking” old.

I know this GORGEOUS light would be perfect over my vintage kitchen sink.

And the light I really, really, really dislike in the kitchen.  The only redeeming feature of this light is the fact it takes a fluorescent bulb and is energy efficient.  Of course it’s so ugly no one actually would WANT to see it on either.  And believe me, it wasn’t made to have a shade… it was meant to LOOK LIKE THIS!

I like the look of the school house style lights... either of these would be fabulous in the kitchen.

And the embarrassing light?  Well it would be the bathroom ceiling fixture (notice I said bathroom… yes, we only have one).  It is rusty.  I tried to make it look a bit better by adding the $5.00 glass fake schoolhouse shade from Lowe’s or Home Depot… isn’t there a saying about putting lipstick on an elephant???

I'm thinking a bit of chrome, with an art deco vibe.  This one would fit the bill.

And last, but not least, is the eyesore light.  The back porch, back door.  The main entry to our home.  You’re not only greeted by an unusually low doorway, but by a bare light bulb.  What a way to say "Welcome to our home!".... and yes, that is sarcasm...  The space is so limited we haven’t found a replacement exterior light fixture… Needless to say, with Western exposure… in Washington, in the rain, we go through an awful lot of bulbs.

I think this little beauty just might fit!
