Happy 26

Today is our wedding anniversary.  Number 26 to be exact.  It's hard to believe it's been 26 years since our wedding, in the middle of a holiday snowstorm.  One of those record breaking type storms.

I remember on the morning of our wedding, my mom wanting to call the local radio station and cancel.  I told her it didn't matter if nobody showed as long as the three lead actors were there.  Of course that was the judge, my husband-to-be and myself!  Even at 20, I knew the wedding wasn't actually the most important part of that day.  It was the marriage between two people that mattered.  Many of us may want the fairy tale wedding, but in the end it's just a big party for just one day.

Of course the wedding did happen.  And 26 years later, the marriage is still happening as well.

Here we are in all of our 1984 glory.  As you can see, I didn't fall for the big hair of the 80's...

Counting down to the New Year of 2011,

  1. Congratulations on #26! That's quite a milestone in this day and age (we are approaching 41). It's wonderful to see that you knew from the beginning that it's the marriage and not the ceremony that will stand the test of time! You were lovely then as now.

    Hugs,
    Jan

  8. Wow, Wow and Wow ... I LOVE your Wedding photo! What a stunning bride!!!! Seriously, hubby's pretty lucky to have won you over. He is so typical of young men of that age, he looks more 'boyish' while you look so 'womanly'! Well, he's certainly done something right to keep you around for 26 years! What a great accomplishment, especially in this day and age where relationships are so 'disposable'! Congratulations to you both! xox

  11. I was driving down a hill today that faces east. It was a fairly clear morning and I could see all the coastal mountains of BC. I look a little to the right and what did I see???

    Mt.Baker. Yup.

So I was thinking of you over near that area...have a great day!
