Santa

When my son was four, all he asked for that Christmas was a "little book about Santa".

Do you know how hard it is to find a little book about Santa?  There were big books about Santa and little books about Christmas but well not the two together.  I finally found a little book about the wait for Christmas with Santa on the last page, I'm not sure that's what he had pictured in his little four year old brain.

This year I was on the Santa book hunt again... for myself.

This time for a book I'd seen in another book, The Farm Chicks Christmas.  There, on page 95 was a book titled The Santa Claus Book by Irene Smith.  It's a fabulous looking book with a graphic vintage cover.  I. wanted. that. book.

Fortunately, we have access to a wonderful thing called eBay.  A few days before Thanksgiving, after weeks of searching, there it was... The Santa Claus Book.  Needless to say, I won the auction.

Doesn't it look right at home with my grandmother's little Santa candle and my husband's grandmother's juicer?  And it's actually full of Santa stories, 234 pages worth, including A Visit from Saint Nicholas which some of you may know as The Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore.  It was copyrighted in 1948 but my edition is from 1959.  It originally sold for $2.95.

So, I think I'll head off to read some Santa stories... with my Santa mug, full of hot chocolate... hold the marshmallows.

Enjoying the middle of the week,
