my spring break is over...

First off, I don't actually get a "spring break" but since I work at a local community college we DO have a spring break... it's just that many offices like mine are at their busiest during the breaks and start of each quarter.  Yesterday was day 5 of our spring quarter and things at work are finally settling back into a routine.  Whew! You'd think I'd be used to how busy it gets (and how tired I am every night) after 20 years!

Last weekend my daughter came up for a visit.  Her husband was heading off to England (or UK as he refers to it).  He's had the opportunity to travel quite a bit with his job... India, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, lots of US spots and of course his two years in Toronto.

We maybe stuck in the Northwest corner of Washington instead of the UK but we had a great visit.  We attended a baby shower on Saturday and even fit in a quick trip to the antique store.   On Sunday we headed to "town" for lunch at a small local restaurant and to Trader Joe's so I could pick up a couple of things, including these fabulous bouquets of Ranunculus.  I seem to have a love for all things with a sort of peony like shape... I'm even looking at some David Austin roses this year.

The few "other things" from Trader Joe's included some Dill... their spices are super cheap!

But really... now that my "spring break is over" it's time to get back into some projects.  Of course the gardens are waiting for hours of work.  Planting my vegetables and getting all my other seeds started in my little greenhouse is on the schedule for the next couple of weeks... a little everyday perhaps.

Speaking of gardening, my purple tulips are looking fabulous...

And with our couple of weeks of warmer weather at the end of March my Magnolia is about ready to pop!

Of course I have quite a few craft, sewing and painting projects on the list...

As well as getting ready for sanding, priming, painting and tiling over at Kermit's Kastle...

It's a good thing I "got" a spring break!

  10. I just stumbled across your blog, and love it. Aren't we having a wild spring here in the Northwest?! Some days my flowers don't know whether to duck for cover, or spread their blooms to the sun. I love it, whatever the weather. So from one farmhouse gal to another, happy blogging... and happy spring!
