Halloween kitchen at Red Gate Farm
Halloween. When my kids were small it was definitely the start of all the holiday hoopla. I think it is the start to the decorating season. You know... first Halloween, then Thanksgiving, straight onto Christmas, then perhaps winding up with a bit of Winter Wonderland for the New Year....
My kitchen here at Red Gate Farm is mostly white, with a bit of black.... and quite a bit of pale green. Pale green of the jadite variety. I like the way the green looks with orange, so most of my traditional orange Halloween pieces are used in the kitchen.... scattered among the everyday green and white.
Actually, my collection of vintage Halloween is pretty recent. I don't think I had any vintage Halloween before we moved to Red Gate Farm.
The glittery, black bottle brush trees aren't vintage... but the akro agate pots and the cute Gurley witch candle are.
As is the jack-o-lantern Gurley candle and the ghost taper... also in an akro agate pot. I have three of these teeny, tiny green pots, usually perched on my kitchen window sill. I bought them a few years ago, all three for $5... I saw one recently at an antique store for $17.... did I say for one? Yep, just for one.
Then there's my orange glass candlesticks.... I have two, but they don't match.
The other one is here, in the cabinet that is usually just full of my milk glass. I like to scatter in some orange Halloween fun for the holiday.
I just got this vintage inspired candy holder... the bottom pulls out so you can fill it up as you please.
One of my vintage honeycomb, paper pumpkins... in milk glass and a cool vintage bowl that is orange with black trim. It was my first real vintage Halloween piece.
A cute nut cup all filled with Halloween goodies. I got this on Etsy last year. I also got some empty ones... thinking I'd make my own, but they're still empty and time is running out for this Halloween! Have I ever told you I'm a bit of a procrastinator?
And the top of that cabinet? Well there is the star of my collection, my paper mache pumpkin that my mom picked up at a garage sale for .50 cents.... and worth many times that.
Anything orange and black makes it way into the decorating... like the vintage puzzle box. The cute little glittery ornament is new this year, but with a vintage look of course!
And a cool old vintage paper plate, found at a thrift store for $1.00.
And no vintage inspired kitchen is complete without a vintage chenille witch! I love her little crepe paper skirt, orange of course.
