Patience pays off....
Wooden pop crates. I've wanted one of these forever.... We have a local nursery/garden store that has tons of them they use for plant display. The kind with the little wooden dividers for the bottles.... little potted plants fit inside them perfectly! Or perhaps a nice added touch for a summer party? I've been watching our local antique, thrift and junkish stores for ones of these gems for years!
Recently, I spied these "found" ones in a catalog. For the small (ahem) sum of $24.99 or so, you too can have your very own wooden Pepsi crate from Pottery Barn.... and they're gracious enough to pick one out for you! Nope, you don't get a choice folks. Needless to say, I was still without a pop crate.
For the summer our local thrift store changes it's hours and I can only stop on a Friday or Saturday... today I was out shopping for a wedding gift and decided to "pop" in. Browsing through the furniture section and wait.... is that what I think it is? Sitting there on that sofa?
Oh my gosh, it even has the wooden bottle dividers! Even Pottery Barn's "found" ones are missing this feature.... I look around thinking surely someone just sat it down while checking out a Lazy-Boy or ugly faux wooden dinette set... nope, no one in the vicinity! Wahoo... This baby is mine and it's coming home with me!
And that little green price tag?
And, well... to be totally honest... it could have only been a better find... if it had been a Coca-Cola crate.

Can you see it? Yep, $3.99! Don't know what I'll do with it but I sure am happy that my patience has finally paid off!

I disagree with the Cola part...Pepsi rocks and so does that crate...great find! I do the same thing when I spot something wonderful...wait, wait, wait, to see if it already belongs to someone else who is going to pounce on me as soon as I look at it! Can't wait to see what you do with it..;j
ReplyDeleteThere is a commercial on TV that has Santa drinking a Pepsi on a warm, sunny beach. He jokingly says, even he takes a vacation, then winks.
ReplyDeleteI don't drink either but I'm happy for you waiting so patiently and finding payday.
What a fantastic find and...really!? $3.99!! I bet you couldn't even believe it when you saw it. Nice way to start the weekend, have fun with it.
ReplyDeleteYay chris!
ReplyDeleteI bet it took everything you had inside of you though when you first saw it to not lunge at it with all your heart, mind and soul...lol
I know that feeling! Good grab!!!
Great find, especially with the dividers! I have two (without dividers) that I picked up from my grandparents estate. I have had them for 20 years and I still don't know what to do with them. But I have faith that you'll inspire me! No pressure....... LOL
ReplyDeleteOh,glad you found one, what are you going to do with it? I keep and eye out too, but haven't found one yet. PB has nerve putting Coke in a Pepsi crate in its ad! LOL
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I don't mind it being Pepsi. It is beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteMy coke crate has no dividers, but I love it just the same!!! What are you going to use it for?

ReplyDeleteYou just made me so jealous I ran to my blog and posted about my own crate. *blush* That green eyed monster needs to have his head chopped off!
ReplyDeleteI did, however, include a link to yours on mine... :)
WOW! You got a great bargain on the crate....I too am looking for a Coke crate. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis is a Coca Cola house... all those who disagree may not enter. LOL
ReplyDeleteI've seen crates in our area as well and they are generally anywhere from $20-$25. SO, you got a real steal there.

Now that was a find! I believe that what you need/want is out there, you just have to be patient. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteThat really is a cool find. Growing up in NJ, we had both coke or pepsi. When I went to WV to visit my Dad's family all they had was RC. I'd never heard of it and signs and machines were everywhere. It wasn't bad both nothing like a Coke.
ReplyDeleteIt needs a coke friend is all... Keep looking! The pepsi crate is VERY cool and that price is an absolute steal! :)
ReplyDeleteWay cool! I'm a Pepsi fan myself, and have a yellow divided Pepsi crate.. somewhere around this bless-ed mess :) But! I love the coca cola stuff too. great find, and you can't beat the price! -Tammy
ReplyDeleteWow! Great price and a wonderful find!!
ReplyDeleteYeah - dreams do come true! I had stacks of these and got overwhelmed with them in the garage. I paid 25 cents each, and had probably 50. I donated them to the church thrift store. I do wish I had kept one or two now. Love your blog!
ReplyDeleteHa!! I have to agree with you on that one. Coca Cola would be better and I was thinking of that right before I read it. : )
ReplyDeleteStill a great find though. Isn't it fun and exciting to find something you've been searching forever for? I think that's the best part about thrifting..the treasure hunt aspect!
Great find, Chris! I love those old-school pop crates too. Would love to have an old pop machine in the garage, remember, the ones you reached down into and got the icy cold pop?
ReplyDeleteThere is nothing like finding a bargain, especially on something you've really been wanting!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you do with it.
Pictures please!!
Holy Cow, Chris! It's in perfect shape, and 3.99?? You got the pop crate deal of the century!
ReplyDeleteGood deal! See, you are a lucky girl! I love those crates too. I have them all over my house, mostly holding magazines.
ReplyDeleteI would have been hugging that baby, too. I'm still looking for a Coke or Pepsi crate, or a Canada Dry Gingerale would be really cool. I saw one at a farmer's market for $26 but it was missing the dividers and the markings were barely legible. I passed on it but hope to score a great find like yours.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fantastic find! Lucky you!
ReplyDeleteI have a soda pop crate - not Coke or Pepsi, but it says: "Quality Beverage, Phila, PA, Frank's, It's The Best!"
ReplyDeleteIt has the dividers and I use it for my Fiesta Ware mugs - I have 12 and there are 12 slots - perfect!
It is one of my best garage sale/thrift store finds!
Amazing find! Only one problem it is Pepsi not Coca Cola lol!
ReplyDeleteI want one I love pepsi
ReplyDeleteLOL
great find and what a steal wow
I want to shop with you
Thanks so much for linking with me for Treasure Chest Friday
Grateful

A great find at a great price!!! We bought 4 of these and sold them at our booth in the antique show. Didn't know they were in Pottery Barn . . . I'll have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
