Flea, Antique and Thrifty Fun

This past Saturday I spent the day with my mom.  At our annual trip to the Skagit County Fairgrounds and their annual Flea/Antique/Garage Sale.
We got there about an hour after opening, needless to say we were passing folks with armloads of finds and furniture.  One gentleman that is there every year had this fabulous shelf made out of a salvaged window and barn wood.  When I told him I was taking a picture for my blog, he said "What's a blog?"  He had some fabulous things but this shelf was the best.  Last year he had some vintage, wooden chicken pens/baskets... the kinds that people turn into coffee tables.  I'd have snapped up one of those except I was on the hunt for a different shape and size!

Some of the treasures I came home with were unused, still packaged paper doilies from England, cute little bride and groom cupcake toppers, the most darling tiny little Easter book...

a gorgeous, milk glass pitcher...
I could not leave this vintage Easter Bunny behind, he's made in Denmark and even has wiskers...

a glittery red "B" for Bouchard? barn? blogging?  and a linen tablecloth to make tea towels for gifting...

and I couldn't pass up these vintage glass place cards, complete with their little holders.

After a couple of hours we left the fairgrounds to head to the "downtown" area stopping in at one of my favorite quilt stores.  I picked up some fabric to make a new slipcover for a bench I have in our enclosed back porch/laundry/mud room.  A little pale yellow and aqua/robins's egg blue combination.

Then lunch at a little old style cafe... and off to one of my favorite antique stores in the area.

I found this cute little aqua pot for my front porch...

the cutest little Red Rose Tea box, vintage birthday candles and if you saw my last post, you know what these Scrabble letters spell!

Then we hit a few thrift stores, I got these vintage postcards... probably from the 70's...

as well as this putz barn!  This little guy was only $1.00!

Then it was off to Starbucks for an iced tea and for the finale... a local nursery.  The cherry trees are in full blossom right now and I couldn't resist picking up a few starts for my baskets... you'll have to stop back later in the week for more about that!

Although our weather has been chilly, I know spring is here... as I write this post, the hummingbirds are storming the feeders outside of my window!  Hope you're enjoying spring weather, where ever you are!

  1. Looks like a fun day! What's a blog? LOL I love that! THe real "old school"!

I'd say you made it out of there with some great things. Love the bunny from Denmark, milk glass pitcher and aqua pot.

I saw an old Chicken coop basket on CL today ( the kind you make coffee tables out of) for $50. I would have snagged it, but we need the budget for the kitchen.

Thanks for sharing your day! :) Michelle
