An extra hour....

We had an extra hour this weekend.... for us, an extra cold hour too.   We got up at the "new" 7:00 am to find a chilly 27 degrees.  Perhaps to some, this may not seem that cold.... for Washington in November we usually see rain, wind and grey skies... and not quite so cold.  However, on the bright side, the chilly temperature meant sunny skies.

I spent my weekend.... starting a new paper wreath for a gift....

Putting "Halloween away" and pulling out a turkey or two.

I made the easiest fall project ever.  A few more of my book pages, some leaves I pressed a couple of weeks ago, string and in place of the bulldog clips that I couldn't find.... I improvised with clips meant for name badges.

All put together to create a new garland for my mirror.  So very simple.  I like the way it turned out and I needed to replace the Halloween garland that I packed away for next year's decorating.  I may have been slow to jump on the whole book page/sheet music thing but I'm really along for the ride now.  I even have a few Christmas projects planned for some of my remaining Reader Digest pages... I may even throw caution to the wind and buy ANOTHER .10 cent book!

During my Halloween purge, I decided to keep the mercury glass pumpkins out for now...  I may be moving on to Christmas already, but of course I can't totally pass by the Thanksgiving holiday.

After all Thanksgiving gives us the best holiday month of them all... November.  What more can you ask for in a month... a weekend with an extra hour and THREE holidays, well three if you get Veteran's Day, and I do!  So with all this extra time off on my hands I'm working on projects from my list as well as projects for the upcoming Christmas holidays.

Here's a sneak peek at my first attempt at painting a real piece of furniture with chalk paint....  I'll have to let you know how it turns out.

As for the chilly weather, I think I'll be putting another blanket on the bed tonight...

How did you spend your extra hour?

  14. Hey! We felt that cold down here in California too! Was trying to hold off on turning on the heat, but alas, 60 degrees in the house is just too cold for me. You took some gorgeous pictures! Enjoy your extra "time" this month. (Drat, I have to hand write report cards this weekend, so no projects yet. But I get the entire Thanksgiving week off, so if the weather is good.....I hope to be a painting fool!)
