Blogiversary Week, Day 3
It's Day 3 of my week long blogiversary bash. I must tell you, today was almost balmy here. The sun came out, the temperature topped out in the low 50's... It really makes a girl want to get out and work in her gardens.
Gardens that take a lot of watering in the summer
and weeding year round.
And I know from experience that all that digging in the dirt,
well, it just plays havoc with my hands.
So I became a glove wearing gardener,
I go through 2 or 3 pairs per season, I wear the tips right off the gloves... that's a lot of weeding!
So, today is all about taking care of the gardener's best tool, their hands.
A pair of Atlas nitrile gloves, my favorite for how thin they are, I feel like I'm not wearing gloves at all. Gardener's scrub and lotion for their hands, made in our neighboring country of Canada. And last but not least a great little scrub brush, because even with gloves I get lots of dirt under my nails.
Even looking forward to weeding soon,
Chris at Red Gate Farm
PS - Don't forget to check out Days 1 and 2 of the giveaway. And here are rules that I posted on Monday, January 24th.

And of course, my followers, well they get an automatic "extra" entry.... for a potential of nine entries.

My hands are so rough and dry from being outdoors... I need to wear gloves to bed with thick night cream! Your gloves look awesome, I may research those!
ReplyDeleteSuch fun stuff! I love this giveaway! And I'm so jealous of your weather. It's still snowing like crazy here!
ReplyDeleteOh girl..you know I need this!! Might put a little on my feet while I'm at it...
ReplyDeleteGreat stuff. I can't believe you have such weather. We are expecting more snow tonight.
ReplyDeleteLovely items, Chris. Your flower gardens are so pretty, and remind me that under all our snow we do have gardens. I eagerly await spring so that I can begin to poke around in our garden.
ReplyDeleteI am in awe of all the land and space you have available for the sheer pleasure of gardening! It would truly be a dream for me! I must confess, I've tried using gloves but they've never worked for me but then again, I've never worked in such a large garden before. These gloves look fab. and the hand cream is a must! Can't wait for DAY 4!!!!
ReplyDeleteI guess I need to wear gloves...I just like the 'real' feeling of the soil.
ReplyDeleteI think is if nice of you to kindly mention us northerners....we always feel so neglected up here.
You have to spend tons of time outside..we have 1/4 acre and I am astounded of the time it WOULD take to care for everything the way it should be.
Great products for the hands..you bet they are a gardeners best tool! I need to be better about wearing gloves. I have small hands and I never feel I get a good fitting glove. I'll have to try your recommendation. I am TOTALLY sold on Burt's Bees Farmer's Friend hand salve...very good stuff.
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Gail
p.s. I forgot to add in my last comment that I am totally coveting your greenhouse :)
Day 3 and you have some fab goodies! I must confess that I usually 'forget' to put my gloves on. My bad. Does wreck the nails! LOL!
ReplyDeleteHere's hoping I win!

Living in Colorado AND gardening leads to really nasty hands and nails. Your giveaway may just to the trick.

I am so bad about wearing gloves. I wear them when I clean the coop and lay down straw but I feel srange having them on with the dirt..I'll give the ones you wear a try. (maybe)

ReplyDeleteI am so amazed at your gardens Chris, they are gorgeous!! 50? Whew, that is a heat wave! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful gift, my hands always get beat up when I pull weeds!
Nice photos and post ! Cant wait for the warmer weather to get in my gardens. I am in Canada as well but never have seen that product, were can I get it ! I sometimes use gloves but I love to get right down and dirty with nature lol. Have a great day !
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Happy Blogiversary to you!! I'm going to google those gloves - always looking for a better pair. They sound perfect! Thanks for sharing those beautiful Spring/Summer photos too... oh how I miss warm days. -Tammy
ReplyDeleteEvery year Mr. Foresterman buys me deerskin gloves and leaves them in my stocking at Christmas...he figures it kills two birds with one stone - eliminates the deer eating the garden and eliminates the weeds in the garden...I have never tried your gloves, they sound interesting...atlas nitrile? Sounds intriguing, like surgery in the garden!
ReplyDeleteMade in Canada? I'm learning a lot this week!
ReplyDeleteAnd I wear out the finger tips too, but not that often. Yet. : )

Oh my--I use a lot of gloves too. Your pics are awesome and your garden--so neat and organized. I have to go back to day 2--crazy work week.
ReplyDeleteI have to wear cotton gloves overnight my hands are such a wreck. Lovely giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI never wear gloves, but have thought that I should start. All that weeding certainly makes my hands rough! What a great giveaway idea!
ReplyDeleteI was never a glove-wearing gardener until last year, when I got poison ivy in my very own garden! I don't know where it came from, but I have two more patches to deal with this Spring, and I'll never not wear gloves again!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogiversary! I'm so glad you started blogging, because I love your blog!
Also my favorite glove! I keep a brush in the shower and use it often. My hands get so beat up, because sometimes I start in w/out gloves and can't seem to pause the 30 seconds it would take to retrieve some!!
ReplyDeleteI was actually out doing yard work on Tues. Couldn't help myself! It was so nice, I even wore a sleeveless T!!!
This is a very fun give away!!
So with you about those garden gloves - i too go through several pairs a year & blow off the idea of manicures! lol Would love this great giveaway too! oxox
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Share Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteI go through SO many pairs of gloves in a Spring/Summer/Fall season, I started buying them in bulk. When they get a hole, they are trashed and a new pair comes out for the job.
I love all of your manicured gardens. They are so beautiful. You do a magnificent job all around the property. Not a bed missed at all. Each space gorgeous in its own.
Thank you for sharing and thank you again for another wonderful opportunity to win.
Many hugs and much love, Sherry
