Day 101 at the Peach Palace

I didn't realize that we'd passed a milestone yesterday... day 100 at the Peach Palace.  Yep, we're still hard at work.  The floors, a couple of custom built cabinets for the kitchen and the upstairs bedroom are the remaining big projects.  Then it's on to all the little finish details... trim, touch ups, clean up... hopefully that is.

A few big changes...

The front porch/sun room floors.  New fir floors, waiting for stain and poly. -

BEFORE east view, still with prior owners "stuff"

AFTER

BEFORE west view, lovely rusty colored carpet

AFTER

The stairway to the upstairs bedroom.  This one is a little tough to actually show well.  There wasn't actually a stairway, just a ladderish thing in the back bedroom.  It's now an actual stairway.  We used the original door space from the back bedroom as the entry point to the stairs.  They still need to be painted with porch and floor paint -

BEFORE treacherous ladder like stairs

new stairs, with return into dining room - bedroom door is now to the right

Here's to a finished project by day 123, the end of January.

  3. I love looking at the 'before' and 'afters' and seeing all your changes. The stairs are DRAMATIC! Did you guys do that yourselves? Doesn't that take a lot of skill to make a staircase? Is your hubby in the business? I love the new floors too. I cannot WAIT to see the finished product. I was looking out the windows of the Peach Palace and the area it's located looks so very quaint. I see snow on the ground. Have a great week!

  4. So much work, but so worth it. I love how your stairs at the bottom have a sort of landing. I also like that they come down into the dining room. Great job on all your projects.

  9. Love it. So cool to see the transformation of the stairs. I so want to put walk up stairs to our attic and that may be the way to do it.
